In addition to Szombathelyi KKA, 9 other teams from 3 different countries played in WJ 2009 (and younger). They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Szombathelyi KKA could be found in Group A together with HSG XeNTiS Bärnbach/Köflach, GKL Frauenhandball Krems-Langenlois, Hypo Niederösterreich and Handballclub Weiz HC Weiz.
Szombathelyi KKA made it to Playoff A after reaching 1:st place in Group A. Once in the playoff they won every match inluding the Final against 7 DROPS WAT Atzgersdorf, which they won with 19-15.
