In addition to Handballclub Weiz, 9 other teams from 4 different countries played in WJ 2009 (and younger). They were divided into 2 different groups, whereof Handballclub Weiz HC Weiz could be found in Group A together with HSG XeNTiS Bärnbach/Köflach, GKL Frauenhandball Krems-Langenlois, Szombathelyi KKA and Hypo Niederösterreich.
